Celebrate September in New York

Summer is over, and autumn is here – September in New York is the ideal time for a shopping trip, dining and sampling New York’s fine wines outdoors, and attending new shows and festivals around the city. Feast of San Gennaro

For the 90th year, Little Italy will celebrate the Italian festival, beginning on September 15th till the 25th on Mulberry Street in lower Manhattan. The event features live performances on the festival stage, parades, and delicious foods from regions in Italy.

Family Events

September 24th is Museum Day Live. Two people can get free admission to any of the 98 museums throughout the state. The Little Red Lighthouse Festival at Fort Washington Park features vendors selling food, live music, and tours of the lighthouse. On the 24th, head out to the Great Irish Fair of New York at the Coney Island Amphitheater. The Central Park Horse show starts on September 21st, with jumping competitions and exhibitions. The show runs until the 25th.

Renaissance and Medieval Fairs

Hire a limo for a weekend to take your group to the New York Renaissance Faire at Tuxedo Park. The fair begins on August 6th and runs through October 2nd, and features special events and theme weekends. Celebrate your wedding anniversary and renew your vows at Romance Weekend or come for the second Masquerade Ball Weekend on the 24th and 25th. The Medieval Fair at Fort Tryon Park takes place on September 18th. Costumed performers, music, dancing, crafts, and jousting competitions are featured.

Affordable Art Fair

The art fair that runs between September 28th and October 2nd is the opportunity to get an early start on Christmas shopping. The Metropolitan Pavilion features artwork from more than 50 galleries. Visitors can browse paintings, prints, photographs, and sculptures.

Food and Drink Events

Taste Williamsburg Greenpoint hosts Taste of North Brooklyn at East River State Park. Guests can sample food and drinks from more than 40 bars and restaurants. Barbecue from some of the top chefs in the city and a cash bar are the features at Barbecue in the Park at East River State Park on September 11th. Sample more than 250 wines at Wine Riot, happening at the 69th Regiment Armory on September 23rd and 24th. Taste of Greenwich Village with food and wine from more than 30 purveyors, takes place in Washington Square Park on September 14th.

Spooky Halloween Events

Celebrate Halloween starting on September 23rd. Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse features activities for adults that will scare the daylights out of you. The Kid’s Adventure is for younger children and features a batty maze, fun, but not scary characters, and Halloween treats.
